Complete Performance Schedule
for The Merrimans

Stephen Merriman

"Art is about breaking new ground, where the artist strives
to change the way audiences see music, visual art and literature."

Stephen, playing professionally since 1978, has worked in a variety of musical genres from reggae to rock to jazz, in the Pacific Northwest, Canada, New York City, San Diego, and Boulder, Colorado. Some of his credits include the Boulder Jazz Improvisation Group, Chiaroscuro, and the piano and drum duo, The Great Leap, based in New York City. Since returning to South Bend, Stephen has focused solely on jazz, and has played with the jazz groups, Random Elements, Apogeebop, and currently The Merrimans.

Stephen is also a piano technician. Please visit the Piano Service Link on this site for more information about Merrimans' Complete Piano Service.

Mary Merriman

"Every session, a new guest artist from around the area is invited to complete the trio, assuring a new sound. For Mary Merriman, this provides a great opportunity to work with a variety of artists.'[Each musician brings] their own way of playing this art,' she said." -Michelle Fordice

Mary began her bass career in 1982, playing with various jazz and orchestral groups in Michigan. Mary studied privately at Central Michigan University, and was a member of several jazz ensembles, including the Faculty Jazz Band. Since relocating to South Bend, she has put her energy into the art of the jazz trio. Mary has been performing in the trio setting with her husband, Stephen, since 2001. Their trio’s name has gone through several evolutions before becoming The Merrimans. These include, Portraits In Jazz, The Marian Emery Trio, and The Standards Trio.

In collaboration with Stephen, Mary creates and produces all of the artwork and marketing material for Merrimans' Playhouse, The Merrimans, and Stephen Merriman's Complete Piano Service. Mary designs and maintains this website (a special thank you to David Hachen for providing photos for this website). All business offered by Stephen and Mary are maintained under the umbrella of Merrimuse Enterprises.

Robert Easley

Executive Producer of Merrimans' Playhouse, Rob is working in collaboration with Stephen and Mary to produce Merrimans' Playhouse. Rob is an integral part of Stephen and Mary's efforts in producing this concert series, and his efforts are deeply appreciated. In addition to his insightful ideas, Rob provides recording and technical support. Rob is the Assistant Management Department Chair, and Associate Professor of IT Management at Mendoza College of Business at Notre Dame.
