August 14, 2008 Concert

Jim Pickley

Jim is an Elkhart, IN native and has been playing piano professionally for 35 years. He earned his BM and MM degrees in piano performance from Indiana University, Bloomington, where he studied with Karen Shaw.  He then was musical director for a series of supper clubs in southern Florida.  That led to five years of leading show bands on various cruise ships.

Returning to Indiana, Jim has since been a private instructor and adjunct instructor at various local colleges. He currently is an adjunct professor at Bethel College in Mishawaka, and gigs all over the area, both as a soloist and with his own jazz trio.

Jim has soloed with the Elkhart Symphony several times; twice with his trio. He has had the honor of playing locally with various "Jazz Giants", including Franz Jackson, Clark Terry, Ed Shaugnessy, Bill Watrous, and Wynton Marsalis. He's looking forward to adding the Merrimans to that list!

More photos will be posted as they become available.
